A Tapestry of Jewels Showcasing Four JewelersIn December the Port Townsend Gallery features A Tapestry of Jewels Showcasing Four Jewelers

The Port Townsend Gallery is celebrating 20 years of presenting art in the community and appreciates all the many patrons who have supported the artists.

Unique, intriguing, inspiring are just a few words that come to mind admiring Addy Thornton's art. She is a jewelry-maker who blends metal, yarn and gems, knitting, pearling and crocheting fabric and wire into intricate 3D designs. "My love affair with jewelry has never really diminished as new techniques are always a way of reinvigorating my work." She says she has a particular fascination for weaving semi-precious gems into her designs. Addy researches each stone to learn of the particular energy and vibration it imparts."Enamored by our regional Native American art, Thornton says totem animals have been finding their way into her creations".

Andrea Guarino-Slemmons has been making beads and designing jewelry for 30 years. She enjoys walking the local beaches and collecting stones, glass and shells. For this gallery walk Andrea will be featuring jewelry of distinction focusing on the Pacific Northwest. She will also have many of her hand forged bracelets and earrings. Andrea has taught all over the world, been recognized in many magazines and was also awarded jewelry artist of the year by Bead and Button Magazine.

Shirley Moss, "The Chainmaker", specializes in handmade chains. She creates every chain one link at a time, considering her work as a meditation in metal.

Suzy Louise is a metal artist specializing in mixed metal jewelry. The focal point of her jewelry is the stone. Grounded and inspired by the wonders of nature, the jewelry created by Suzy Louise is raw, earthy and lush. A passionate rock-hunter, gardener, and seed-saver, her love of the earth and its treasures is evident in her art. Suzy's designs are often built around special stones with a history of place or time. Fossils and dinosaur bone are part of her distinctive collection, and are set in silver and copper metals.

The Port Townsend Gallery at 715 Water Street is open from 10 to 5 Sunday through Thursday, and Friday and Saturday 10 am to 6 pm. Please join the artists for the Gallery Walk from 5:30 to 8 pm on Saturday, December 2nd. For more Gallery information, phone (360) 379-8110 www.porttownsendgallery.com.
