Great American Songbook Concert
Saturday, January 13, 2018, 07:00pm

Great American Songbook Concert on Saturday January 13 at 7 PM.

The Port Townsend Friends Meeting is hosting a benefit concert featuring nine local singers sharing their love of the "Great American Songbook", songs and jazz standards from the 20s, 30s and 40s at 7PM at the Friends Meetinghouse (Quakers) at 1841 Sheridan St. in Port Townsend. The singers include Sydney Keegan, Pat Vaughan, Sue Reid, Rob Wamstad, Michael Cohoon, Scott Rosekrans, Frank Boyle, Jeff Johnson, and David Schroeder. This locally based batch of singers will perform such hits of yore as Ain't Misbehavin', My Funny Valentine, Ol' Man River, Georgia on my Mind and On the Street where You Live. These and the other songs have endured from musical theater and film and are quite important today. There will be surprises worked into the program that will make the evening interactive fun as well as entertaining.

These Meetinghouse Concerts are a benefit to raise money for the loan on the Friends Meetinghouse. We start with a dessert social at 6:30 pm and music at 7:00. There is a suggested donation of $5-$50 with no one turned away. The Port Townsend Friends Meetinghouse is located at 1841 Sheridan St, at 19th Avenue, in Port Townsend.
