Pacific Northwest artist, Theresa Stirling, creates her paintings using thin layers of beeswax and oil, with each brush-stroke carefully fused by blowtorch, creating a textured, luminous painting; twenty layers or more can go onto each canvas before the painting is completed. Commissions make up the majority of her studio's work and every piece is a generous dialogue with the collector becoming both a journey and a statement piece.
Stirling focuses on sustainability with attention to environmentally friendly mediums, using beeswax, natural resin, cold wax and pure pigments. In her endeavor to make the world a more beautiful place, giving back to the community has become an integral party of her mission and she donates 20% of all her proceeds to animal shelters, education and the arts. Her works are beautiful to the eye and heartwarming for the soul. Her paintings can be seen in more detail on her website, wwwtheresastirling.com.
